Welcome!

Welcome to Burn This Mama Down! Join me for fitness tips, healthy eats, mama war stories and probably lots of pictures of babies, and dogs, and cats (I recently, like 2 days ago, became a crazy cat lady).

Some of you may be joining from my old blog: C + C Marriage Factory. I was never really in love with the name and didn’t have an official focus there so I think it is a perfect time to revamp.

A little about me… I’m Christina and I live in Lancaster County, PA (yes, Amish country, but I never really run into them too much) with my hubs,  toddler and baby plus three dogs, two cats, and way too many chickens. I am a self proclaimed lazy person who loves TV and pizza and too much wine. No one was more shocked than me when I started a fitness and healthy eating program that actually worked and managed to lose 27 pounds (that’s the baby weight plus a whole lot more) over 8 months. I still eat pizza and drink wine but on a more limited basis. I’m not perfect and probably lack the determination to get a 6 pack. I just want to feel great when I look in the mirror and zip up my jeans. And I finally do!

As a stay at home mom finding time for preparing healthy meals and daily workouts was big for me. But, I have let some things go. My house is not spotless. Sometimes I forget to give the dogs breakfast until lunchtime. And sometimes the only time to get a workout in is during Sesame Street. And that’s okay because all that matters is that I’m healthy and happy and the best mama I can be.

Changes! Come find me at my new blog!

Hi everyone! I have been MIA for quite a long time while settling in to mommyhood and a new life in PA. I have had a LOT going on, though. I’ve decided to take up blogging again but I have a new focus these days: getting healthy and fit! In the past 8 months I have totally changed my eating and exercise habits (or, let’s be honest, doing ANY exercise at all…) and have lost 27 pounds! I feel amazing and I hope I can inspire others to find their own paths to getting fit. I will continue to share healthy recipes with you but also fitness tips and motivation!

As far as the mama thing goes… I have a lot of stuff bouncing around in my head about motherhood in general and I need a place to share all of that. I want to be completely honest about the ups and downs that I have faced in hopes that I can help someone else who may be experiencing the same things.

So if you want to follow along with me I am moving to a new url: www.burnthismamadown.com. Eventually (i.e. when I figure all the html back end of things) C + C Marriage Factory will automatically be re-directed to Burn This Mama Down and you can access all my old posts at the new location.

Cheers,
Christina

I’m back!

Hello strangers!

I am so sorry that I have neglected my little blog for so long. At the end of October my husband and I found out that we are expecting a baby at the end of June. Extreme tiredness in the first trimester kept me pretty much away from the kitchen and un-motivated for blogging.

After that? Well, I don’t have much of an excuse other than getting out of the habit of blogging. I have been cooking and taking pictures but just haven’t made that crucial step of getting the recipes and pictures up here on the blog.

So, come Monday, I will have new recipes to share with you! I also have our renovated upstairs bathroom to share and we are (well, truthfully, Casey is) hard at work on our baby girl’s nursery and I can’t wait to get it all finished and share it here.

I am glad to be back to the wonderful world of blogging!

xoxo

Apparently May was a busy month

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged in a month. We were in full-on kitchen mode trying to get everything done. We just had the granite installed last week and hooked up the faucet and garbage disposal over the weekend so it is fully functional! It looks like a kitchen now, a really awesome kitchen. It really has turned out beautiful, better than I ever expected. I want to post pics but I think I will wait until at least the backsplash and moulding is done (hopefully by next week).

Since I can start cooking again, I hope to try out some new recipes soon. I have been craving pasta since I haven’t had much of it since we started this mess. I ordered a bunch of Dreamfields pasta from Amazon. My best friend uses it whenever she cooks for us. Its low carb and high fiber but tastes like regular pasta.

After the kitchen is complete we are going to start on our next projects (we are taking on easier ones this time for a break). Casey has already ripped out the termite infested decking in the backyard and will be building us a new deck. I can’t wait to lay out there reading and sipping margaritas.

My project is the guest bedroom. It needs major patching, painting, baseboards, trim, new carpet in the closets, new closet shelving and doors. I also want to add laminate flooring (currently it is heinous parquet).

I hope to take a bunch of pictures this weekend to share some before and afters of what we have been up to.

Update

Dear Blog,

I know you were getting worried, but I am still alive. Just have more important things in my life then you at the moment (sorry). We are moving on Saturday and I probably won’t be cooking much until we redo the kitchen. The kitchen in its current form is truly heinous. Be glad that you can’t see it. I lysoled it but, really, lysol is no match. Also, be glad that you can’t smell it. One cabinet smells like moth balls (moth balls?) and one like Old Bay.

On a positive note, we have finished just about all the projects that we have wanted to before moving in. I will be posting before and after pictures in lieu of recipes for the next month. The painting and moulding have really turned it into a new place. I must give Casey props (yes, props) for the moulding. I also have to give myself (ahem, the Benjamin Moore lady) props for the awesome paint colors. I am so excited for the day when I can afford to decorate it the way I envision. It will be sweet.

Also, Mamma got a new car. Don’t begrudge me, I needed it.

Yours truly,

C

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog. I am hoping to use this as a tool to document my explorations in married life and in the kitchen, both are pretty much unchartered territories for me. I’m starting out with quick and fairly simple recipes and hope to take more and more cooking adventures as I go on. Anyway, I hope to find some yummy stuff along the way!
